The German-French Friendship Treaty 2023

For a couple of years, the Alliance Française and The N.C. Zeitgeist Foundation have been celebrating the Anniversary of the German-French Friendship Treaty concluded by de Gaulle and Adenauer.
 
This year, it was the 60th Anniversary.
 
It is customary to invite an ambassador from another country to give a perspective on their view of the European Union .
 
This year, it was the Polish Ambassador Marek Magierowski and his wife Anna.
 
The tour started with a Reception at City Hall.

The delegation consisted of Christian Forstner, Hanns-Seidel Foundation, Anna Magierowska, Polish Honorary Consul Mark Fountain and his wife Brenda, the Ambassador and Klaus + Concha Becker

The reception was led on City Hall side by Mayor-pro-tem Braxton Wilson

After a successful and very spirited Q+A session, Ambassador Magierowski joined with the organizers of the event.

The delegation continued their program at Queens University where they were received by President Lugo and his team:

It was a great event at Queens University whose attendance exceeded all expectations.

The final event, the highlight of the day, the dinner staged by the Alliance Française and The N.C. Zeitgeist Foundation at Dressler’s midtown

Marek Magierowski looks back to a long day with many speeches and contacts and interactions with the people of Charlotte.

The event was an opportunity for Queens university to get a glimpse of the activities of The N.C. Zeitgeist Foundation: Jan Delkeskamp, Rich Majerus, V.P. Planning+ Strategy with Amb. Magierowski

Christian Forstner, Director of the Hanns-Seidel Foundation and generous sponsor of the evening, closes the event.

The next day, on Jan. 25, the delegation proceeded to UNC Chapel Hill where they received by an informal lunch with Prof. Dr. Klaus Larres, Ambassador Barbara Stephenson and other academic leaders.

The luncheon was sponsored by the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation.
