On May 25/26, Ambassador Lambrinidis, Embassy of the European Union, and Ambassador Martin Weiss, Embassy of Austria, visited Charlotte to learn more about the historical and political situation of the Southeast and its potential in the business sector. The ambassadors were picked up by Klaus Becker and his wife Concha and accompanied on the way to the hotel by a police escort: The N.C. Zeitgeist Foundation invited to a smaller dinner: On Thursday morning, May 26, Ambassador Lambrinidis and Ambassador Weiss went to City Hall: to meet with Mayor Vi Lyles: and discussed possibilities of working together -possibly via ‘Culture’ as vehicle- with Mayor Vi Lyles and City Manager Marcus Jones: They met with Governor Roy Cooper: before taking part in the Luncheon, staged by the World Affairs Council Charlotte and The N.C. Zeitgeist Foundation: Gov. Roy Cooper introduced the two Ambassadors: and they engaged in a most intensive and interesting podium discussion: At the end, they received their commemorative documents: In the aftermath some encounters: It was a very successful visit which was also enjoyed and appreciated by the two visiting European Ambassadors.
