Chairman Klaus Becker gave the sequel speech today (the second one in half a year) at Rotary North in Charlotte outlining Germany’s position in the geopolitical world and the challenges it faces with its neighbors in Europe but also with Russia, China and the United States.
In order to counter the gloom which seems to be prevalent in today’s geopolitics, he showed slides showing Germany’s tourist places, memorable and historic monuments and technical marvels like boat lifts. At lunch, on Tuesday, June 20, Sharon Decker, the former Secretary of Commerce in North Carolina, spoke to a very interested audience about the upcoming FEI World Equestrian Games. Over 500,000 spectators, 70 countries, 1000 horses and 1500 riders are expected to arrive in our area in September. The Equestrian Games will be the fourth largest spectator event in the WORLD in 2018! The other large events are: The Olympics, The World Cup and Tour de France!

Knese, who speaks German, English and Spanish, serves on CWTA’s board of directors and is also an active member of several other professional affiliations to promote international and cross-cultural business. In her capacity as the director of business development with GreerWalker, a regional CPA firm, she helps clients by aligning her deep knowledge of international marketing for service firms and her expertise of culture in global business to strategically grow their businesses. The N.C.Zeitgeist Foundation hosted its 3rd White Asparagus Feast on May 31, 2018 at the Charlotte City Club. The evening was opened with a champagne reception, followed by an exquisite 3-course white asparagus meal. The Foundation’s president, Gunda Knese, gave a lighthearted introduction to the history of asparagus while guest speaker John Williams’ shared entertaining insights on Country, Company and Culture.
